Darwin DVD Resource Our recent International Transforming Education Conference was a wonderful time of inspiration, learning, professional development and community building. We trust that God was glorified, His son worshipped, the Spirit was active and that Christian education was nurtured in this country and others. If you were one of the over 1100 people who descended on Darwin for the week, thank you for helping make it such an enriching time.
If you didn't get to Darwin, you can still experience the presentations.

Postgraduate credit from DVD
Did you know - You can turn attendance at professional development into postgraduate credit
- You can even use a DVD resource, like above, as profession development that can be turned into credit
One way of doing this is to enrol in the unit ED581 Appraisal of Professional Learning. This involves critiquing the PD, reflecting on classroom practice and doing some additional relevant reading. Doing this for 3 PD events may gain credit for the ED581 postgraduate unit. Click here to purchase DVD Click here to make enrolment e

Teacher Training in ICT
At the National Institute for Christian Education we understand the need for teachers to continue in their professional learning of ICT skills and digital literacy. We also recognise the need for Christian teachers to be developing tools for biblical critique as they embrace these new technologies. What we will offer in 2012:
The Certificate of Christian Education (Technology). This one day course (or equivalent) takes all teachers (and parents) though the biblical perspective on the issues that need to be considered as we continue to embrace ICT in our schools. New technologies are explained and the worldview shaping influence explored. This could also be delivered in a 1-4 hour presentation. This is available now.
European Pedagogical ICT Licence
. The National Institute is now a course provider of EPICT in Australia. This is a wonderful 8 module course that gets completed in small teams within the school context with a trained facilitator. It focuses on developing the teacher's ICT skills but always in the context of pedagogy. Click here to download the brochure. Click here for the EPICT website.
ED555 Technology and Education. This is a new elective course on offer in our post graduate program. To read the unit outline click here.
New way to study
We have reworked our postgraduate unit ED543 Effective Teaching into a guided resource that can be run in a series of 8 staff meetings. It is a clearly set out resource with guided activities, responses and readings all set within the one workbook. Credit or professional development
The workbook is set out in such away that should a teacher want to use their engagement with the resource for postgraduate credit, the addition readings and reflections (with word counts) for this are clearly indicated. Credit for a unit this way is at a reduced enrollment rate. Why not explore doing this with your principal? Why not offer to run it for them?
